Introduction

HISTORY AND OBJECTIVE

In 1957,the Glenside Lions Club from the U.S.
state of Pennsylvania sponsored the world’s first
Leo club the — Abington High School Leo Club —
with 35 students. A decade later, the Lions Clubs
International (LCI) Board of Directors adopted
the Leo Club Program as an official program
of the association.

The objective of the Leo Club Program is “...to
provide the youth of the world with an opportunity
for development and contribution, individually and
collectively, as responsible members of the local,
national and international community.”

Leo club members around the world fulfill
this objective every day. Leo club activities
and projects enhance the community and help
young people develop and practice leadership,
organization and social skills. Leo club
involvement can instill in young people a
lifetime commitmentto helping others.

project organizers and motivators of their peers.

and cooperation can bring about change in their
community and the world.
