Bringing Christmas Cheers to Children of Tebedu Parishes
Date completed: 21/12/2013
The Christmas gathering was joyfully organized
by the Holy Cross Catholic Church of Bandar Mutiara, Tebedu and it was
enthusiastically hosted by charismatic rector Father Jerome Juleng. The
children came from 22 villages in Tebedu and are of sub-parishes to the
aforementioned church to take part in the Christmas celebrations. For the past
few years, the Lions Club of Kuching Host had been part of this annual
Christmas gathering organized for the children of the rural villages in Tebedu.
This exciting year, the Lions Club of Kuching Host and the Leo Club of SMK
Kuching High was lead by Lion Titus Chuo to distribute the Christmas gifts
sponsored by the Lions Club itself to the children. The Lions Club and the Leo
Club also donated used items such as second-hand clothes, bags, and pre-packed
stationery to the children from the nearby villages out of generosity. Some of
the activities that commenced were the singing of Christmas songs and dancing
with the children to bring festive joy and entertainment to all who were
present. It was a small but meaningful and fun activity for the children as
well as the Lions and Leos if not for the warm and commendable hospitality of
the Catholic Church residents and the people of Tebedu.
